Self-Cleaning Filters

Continuous filtration with automated backwash — no cartridge replacement, no process interruption.

Overview

Basiia supplies automatic self-cleaning filters for continuous-duty water and process filtration applications where manual cartridge replacement is impractical or uneconomical. Self-cleaning filters use a rotating brush, scraper, or suction scanner mechanism to clean the filter screen during operation — initiating a backwash cycle triggered by differential pressure or a timed interval, with minimal flush water consumption (typically <1% of throughput). They are used in cooling water systems, irrigation, industrial process water, seawater intake, and pre-treatment ahead of membrane systems.

Typical Applications

  • Cooling tower make-up and recirculating water filtration
  • Irrigation and agricultural water supply
  • Industrial process water pre-treatment
  • Seawater intake filtration ahead of SWRO
  • Municipal water supply pre-treatment
  • Power plant condenser cooling water
  • Paper and pulp process water
  • Mining process water treatment

Key Features

Engineered for Performance

Suction Scanner Self-Cleaning

Rotating suction scanner arm traverses the filter screen under differential pressure — drawing debris off the screen surface through a flush valve without interrupting forward flow. Cleaning cycle <30 seconds with <0.5% flush water.

Brush & Scraper Cleaning

Motor-driven brush or scraper mechanism removes accumulated solids from the screen surface — suitable for fibrous, sticky, or high-solids feeds where suction scanning alone is insufficient.

Stainless Steel Wedge Wire Screens

Wedge wire or perforated stainless steel filter screens in 25–3,000 µm slot sizes — providing precise filtration with high open area, low pressure drop, and long service life in aggressive services.

Differential Pressure Control

Automated DP-initiated cleaning cycles with adjustable setpoints — with timed backup initiation and manual override. Remote monitoring via 4–20 mA DP transmitter and digital output to PLC/SCADA.

High Flow Capacity

Flow rates from 5 m³/hr to 5,000+ m³/hr in a single unit — with multiple units in parallel for larger installations. Compact footprint versus equivalent cartridge or media filter systems.

Corrosion-Resistant Construction

Carbon steel, 316L stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, and GRP housings — with EPDM, NBR, or FKM seals selected for fluid service and temperature.

Applicable Standards

  • ISO 9001
  • ASME B31.3 (Process Piping)
  • ASME VIII Div. 1 (pressure vessels where applicable)
  • ATEX / IECEx (motor and controls for hazardous area, where applicable)
