Overview
Basiia supplies pressure sand filters using a single graded silica sand media bed for removal of suspended solids, turbidity, and iron from water and process streams. Sand filters are the most widely used pre-treatment technology ahead of RO, UF, and ion exchange systems — providing reliable, low-maintenance filtration with automated backwash. Our sand filter packages are supplied as vertical or horizontal pressure vessels in carbon steel, FRP, or stainless steel, with automated backwash controllers, differential pressure monitoring, and PLC control.

Engineered for Performance
Graded Silica Sand Media
Graded silica sand media (0.4–1.2 mm effective size, uniformity coefficient <1.5) in bed depths of 600–900 mm — providing effective removal of suspended solids and turbidity to <1 NTU from feeds up to 20–30 NTU.
Pressure Vessel Design
Vertical and horizontal pressure vessels in carbon steel (epoxy-lined), FRP, and 316L stainless steel — designed to ASME VIII or PED with internal distribution headers, media support underdrain, and manway access.
Automated Backwash
Automated backwash initiated by differential pressure (typically 0.5–0.7 bar) or timed cycle — with air scouring option for effective media cleaning and restoration of filter bed permeability.
Iron & Manganese Removal
Oxidation pre-treatment (aeration, chlorination, or potassium permanganate dosing) followed by sand filtration for removal of dissolved iron (up to 10 mg/L) and manganese from groundwater.
Multiple Vessel Configurations
Single vessel, duplex (duty/standby), and multi-vessel parallel configurations — sized to flow rate, required filtration velocity (5–15 m/hr), and backwash water availability.
Chemical Dosing Integration
Optional inline coagulant dosing (alum, ferric sulphate, or polyelectrolyte) and static mixing upstream of the filter — enhancing removal of fine colloids and colour from surface water sources.
