Falling Film Evaporators
High-efficiency thermal evaporation for brine concentration and ZLD pre-treatment.
Overview
Basiia supplies falling film evaporators (FFE) as the primary concentration stage in Zero Liquid Discharge systems. Thin-film downward flow across vertical tube bundles maximises heat transfer efficiency while minimising scaling and fouling — making FFEs the preferred choice for high-volume brine concentration ahead of crystallisation. Our units are engineered for industrial wastewater, produced water, and process streams with high TDS loads.
Typical Applications
- ZLD brine concentration — first-stage evaporation
- Produced water and oilfield brine treatment
- Desalination reject concentration
- Industrial wastewater volume reduction
- Power plant FGD wastewater treatment
- Mining process water and leachate concentration
- Food and beverage evaporation and concentration
- Chemical and pharmaceutical process streams
Key Features
Engineered for Performance
Thin-Film Evaporation
Liquid distributed as a thin falling film over vertical tube surfaces — maximising heat transfer area, minimising residence time, and reducing thermal degradation of heat-sensitive streams.
Multi-Effect Configuration
Multiple-effect designs (double, triple, or quadruple effect) reuse vapour energy across successive stages — significantly reducing steam consumption and operating costs versus single-effect units.
Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) Ready
Compatible with MVR integration for near-zero steam consumption — compressor recompresses evaporated vapour back to the heating side, achieving very low specific energy consumption (kWh/m³).
Anti-Scaling Design
Optimised tube geometry, velocity, and wetting rates minimise scaling tendency — with provisions for CIP (clean-in-place) chemical cleaning and optional anti-scalant dosing integration.
Materials for Corrosive Streams
Tube bundles and wetted surfaces available in duplex stainless steel, super duplex, titanium, or high-alloy materials — selected to match brine chemistry, chloride content, and operating temperature.
Integrated Instrumentation & Control
Full PLC/SCADA control with level, temperature, pressure, and flow monitoring — automated startup, shutdown, and CIP sequences with remote monitoring capability.
Applicable Standards
- ASME VIII Div. 1 (Pressure Vessels)
- TEMA (Heat Exchanger Design)
- ISO 9001
- ATEX / IECEx (where applicable)
- Local environmental discharge regulations
