What is Biofiltration?

Biofiltration is a natural odor control method that uses a bed of organic material—such as compost, wood chips, or bark—populated with microorganisms. As odor-laden air passes through the media, the microbes biologically degrade pollutants like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), ammonia (NH₃), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into harmless byproducts such as carbon dioxide and water.
